Join free, skills-building groups offered by the Counselling & Student Well-being department.

What will you be doing during these groups?

Learn techniques to help you better manage your thoughts, behaviours, and emotions in a supportive community of other students.

How to join

To join these groups, either fill out a registration form for the groups that specify as such below, or access a session with a counsellor and let them know which group you’re interested in. To request a counselling appointment, either email letstalk@georgebrown.ca or book online through the Counselling Student Portal. Spaces are filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

2026 Groups

Rest & Reflect: A Mindful Therapeutic Writing Group

This open, virtual group, offers time to pause, unwind, and reflect. Each session will begin with a brief guided mindfulness practice, followed by a therapeutic writing activity focused on self-exploration and emotional awareness. No previous experience required. Participants are encouraged to engage at their own comfort level, and there is no expectation to share your writing. 

For the Winter 2026 semester:

  • On the following dates: January 22, January 28, February 5, February 12
  • Sessions will be 12 to 1 p.m. ET. on Zoom.
  • Free and open to current students.

Beyond the Storm: DBT Skills for Navigating Emotions and Relationships

In this open, virtual, 10-week group, learn skills from Dialectical Behavioural Therapy to manage difficult emotions and communicate effectively in times of stress.

For the Winter 2026 semester:

  • Begins on Friday, January 23 and runs every week until March 27, including Intersession Week.
  • Sessions will be 12 to 1 p.m. ET.
  • Free and open to current students.
