Many students are in urgent financial need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. That’s why the George Brown College Foundation started a campaign to increase the college’s COVID-19 Student Emergency Fund, growing it from $850,000 to more than $1 million in only a few weeks. Thanks to this fund, 3,665 students who are experiencing financial difficulties will receive support.

George Brown College’s Chancellor’s Circle Reception was held on Tuesday, 22nd October 2019 at the New School of Design, Daniels Waterfront – City of the Arts complex at 3 Lower Jarvis Street, Toronto. Hosted by newly-appointed Chancellor, Noella Milne, the event brought together a thriving community of passionate and generous financial supporters of the College for cocktails, conversation and charity.

The late Gary Lengyel's legacy will continue on and inspire others through the creation of the Cooking with Passion – Gary Lengyel Memorial Endowment fund. This fund was created in partnership by Peter Lengyel and the Guild Electric Charitable Foundation to support culinary students at George Brown College's Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA).

George Brown College and The Helderleigh Foundation have expanded on their previous partnership to address food and nutrition literacy. To date, The Helderleigh Foundation has committed over $1.3 million in funding support to George Brown College food and nutrition literacy-oriented programs.

This new partnership thrust, representing $296,000 over the next two years, enables the following:

On October 18, 2018 family, friends and colleagues of the late Serge Simard gathered to celebrate the life of the Canadian hospitality icon.

On March 29, 2018, George Brown College was thrilled to celebrate as Building Opportunities for Life Today (BOLT) Charitable Foundation renewed its support with another gift of $30,000 to support student scholarships.

Noble Corporation has generously donated $30,000 to fund scholarships for students in the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies, School of Apprenticeship and Skilled Trades. On Wednesday, April 18th, 2018 Noble Corporation’s gift was celebrated at a cheque presentation ceremony at George Brown College’s Casa Loma campus.

The Honourable Company of Freemen of the City of London in North America has committed $15,000 to support George Brown College students enrolled in the Centre for Arts, Design and Information Technology, School of Fashion & Jewellery.

The Scholarship, known as the The Honourable Company of Freemen of the City of London in North America Scholarship will be awarded to one student each year for the next three years in the amount of $5,000.

On Tuesday, March 19th, members of Reich+Petch Architects Inc. joined George Brown College’s students, staff and faculty for an evening promoting design excellence and innovation in the architectural community.

Tony Reich, Principal Architect of Reich+Petch, kicked off the evening at the College’s Casa Loma campus with a lecture. Following Mr. Reich’s speech, key members of Reich+Petch presented their newly‑established award to George Brown College senior leaders and guests.

Sysco Toronto officially opened the new Sysco Large Quantity Cooking Lab at George Brown College with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on December 11, 2017. The event kicked off a five-year partnership focused on enhancing programs and facilities at the Centre for Hospitality and Culinary Arts (CHCA) building at 300 Adelaide St. E.
