Concept art is critical in conceptualizing and driving the production process of video games and film. In this rigorous one-year Concept Art for Entertainment graduate certificate program, you'll expand your techniques and creativity, transforming your written ideas into visual experiences.

The Concept Art for Entertainment one-year graduate certificate program will train you to meet the industry demand for entertainment-focused concept artists and fine artists. We've designed this program to provide specialized skills for graduates of our Game - Art, Interaction Design and Graphic Design programs. A core part of the intensive curriculum is the development of artistic and direction techniques you'll need to succeed in the industry, including concept art production and visual conceptualization.

Using stories, character profiles, and design documentation, you'll learn production processes, art styles, and drawing techniques. During the program, you'll assemble a personal portfolio, while designing and directing art production for games and film. Getting this experience will prepare you for entering the workforce or starting your own business.

Your Field Education Options

Students with approved portfolios are eligible for non-mandatory external field placements in semester 3.

Through a rigorous program of study, the 12-month graduate certificate in Concept Art for Entertainment at George Brown College in Toronto will expand artists’ techniques and creativity, to transform written ideas into visual experiences.

The Concept Art for Entertainment program will train you to meet industry demand for concept artists and fine artists with a focus on entertainment fields. Strategically designed to provide specialized skills for graduates of Game - Art, Interaction Design and Graphic Design, the intensive curriculum emphasizes the development of artistic and direction techniques relevant to the industry, namely concept art production and visual conceptualization, in real-world scenarios.

You will become proficient with production processes, defining art styles and drawing techniques by interpreting stories, character profiles and design documentation. Throughout your time in the program, you will assemble a personal portfolio, while designing and directing the art production for games and film. This experience will provide you with the necessary professional practices to enter the workforce or become entrepreneurs.
