The Graphic Design program is an ideal training ground for the design profession. Each September, a small group of students begins a nine-month program in Interdisciplinary Design Strategy at the Institute without Boundaries, where they work as a team to research, design and realize a real-world project.

Front-End Design focuses on human-centred design to produce high-impact websites and apps. George Brown College's Web Development – Front-End Design program prepares learners with skills in both application and interface development to deliver solutions that meet industry-standards for effective code engineering and responsible design, going beyond traditional websites.

Apparel Fit Technicians are able to recognize good apparel fit, identify fit problems and correct fit in ready-made garments. They apply ideal fit standards across different body types and fabrics. As a student in this program, you will also develop your customer service skills. 

This two-year diploma program is designed to allow you to develop a working knowledge of business management and technical skills necessary for small- to medium-sized businesses in the apparel fashion industry. The entrepreneurial aspect of this program guides you through the process of developing a comprehensive business plan, which is essential to start a new business or manage an existing business. You will gain an understanding of textiles, garment construction, quality criteria and apparel merchandising. You will also learn to apply marketing, accounting, financial and other business concepts necessary for the fashion business industry.

This two-year diploma program will prepare you to apply the tools of marketing and merchandising to maximize product success in the market. As a student in the Fashion Management program, you will have a deep understanding of textiles, manufacturing inputs and processes and movement in the supply chain, as well as management of the value, costing and quality of apparel. As a student in the Fashion TECH program, you will acquire the digital and hands-on training to enter skilled employment as machine operators in the digital fashion technology fields of knitting, embroidery, dye sublimation or laser cutting.

This two-year diploma program prepares you for careers in garment manufacturing design rooms. This is a women's wear program that focuses on pattern drafting and sewing skills. You will use industrial machines and learn the essentials of technical illustration, pattern making, pattern grading and clothing construction. Additional core subjects include textiles, technical specifications and history of costume.

The Gemmology program teaches you to analyze and classify a wide variety of gem materials, both natural and artificially created. The program focuses on analyzing chemical and physical characteristics of gem and gemlike materials, and identifying different gems. The gem materials are classified into categories according to their desirable characteristics, which eventually determine the value of the gems. To accomplish the identification and classification, you use a number of specially designed instruments such as microscopes, spectroscopes, refractometers, polariscopes and others.

The Industrial Power Sewing program prepares you to work in an industrial sewing environment. Graduates have the ability to complete standard garment construction work using industrial machines to a quality standard. You will also gain experience using specialty sewing machines and pressing equipment. 

The International Fashion Management program will prepare you with the skills and knowledge needed for success in the worldwide fashion industry. Courses emphasize hands-on and theoretical expertise in fashion business practices, global marketing, logistics and supply chain management. 

The Jewellery Arts program focuses on both the goldsmithing techniques and design skills that are necessary to succeed as a jewellery designer and goldsmith. You learn all aspects of jewellery making – sawing, filing, soldering, casting, forging and decorative metal techniques such as inlay, filigree and chasing, and the particulars of working with silver and gold and gemstones.

The Jewellery Essentials program provides you with the skills and techniques necessary to begin a career in the jewellery industry. You will learn to saw, file, solder, grind, polish and finish metals including copper, brass, silver and gold. Fabrication and centrifugal casting techniques will be used to create jewellery pieces to high standards.

The Jewellery Methods program provides you with the skills and abilities necessary to succeed in this demanding profession as a goldsmith/bench jeweller. The essential skills of measuring, sawing, filing, soldering and finishing are stressed early in the program. Once essential skills are achieved, you study more advanced goldsmithing, jewellery repair, gemsetting and model making as well as jewellery elective subjects.

The Acting for Media program moves beyond acting for film and television and comprises the training needed to succeed as a screen actor whether for film, television, online, game or interactive mediums. Students will learn to apply their craft as professional actors and voice-over artists to all media.

Commercial Dance (P106) is a 12-month certificate program graduating professional triple-threat dancers ready for a career in commercial dance.

The Electric Vehicle (EV) Technician training program is intended to address a global need for people who are skilled in diagnosing, servicing and repairing high voltage EVs and commercial charging stations.Students in the EV Technician program receive both theoretical and laboratory instruction through a combination of multimedia learning resources and an electrical/electronics simulation software package (CircuitLogix Pro) to allow for the testing, validation, and understanding of electrical and electronic circuits that are found in a typical EV.The program will also be highly beneficial to Automotive Service Technicians who have a strong background in internal combustion engine (ICE) powered vehicles, but who lack the knowledge and skills in power electronics and data communication systems to safely perform service-related work on EVs and Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs). This Mechanical Techniques program is specifically designed to complement university engineering students' theoretical knowledge with applied practical techniques. Topics include manufacturing protocol, engineering drawing, solid modelling (Solidworks), precision machining, quality control, CNC machining with Mastercam, pneumatics/electro-pneumatic circuits and microprocessor control systems. Coursework emphasizes practical techniques through applied learning and hands-on lab activities.

The Programmable Logic Controllers Technician (PLC) Certificate program provides the basic technical skills and knowledge necessary to work with programmable logic control systems found typically in an industrial/manufacturing environment. The program covers the operation of various PLC control systems including both discrete and analog control devices. The Dental Assisting program provides the education required to work as a certified dental assistant (Levels I and II). Students will develop the skills, technical knowledge and clinical experience necessary to work in a professional, ethical and collaborative manner in a variety of settings.

The Dental Hygiene program prepares students to practice as primary oral health-care providers. This three-year program focuses on developing interpersonal communication skills and professionalism while applying the dental hygiene process of care. Emphasis is placed on preparing students to function effectively within a collaborative relationship including the client, the community and other health-care providers.

Students in the Dental Technology program will learn the specialized skills of a dental technologist. You'll learn how to design and fabricate various oral devices that have been prescribed to a patient by a regulated dental practitioner (often a dentist). Devices include appliances like full dentures, partial dentures, crowns, bridges, implant-related restorations, orthodontic appliances and other specialty items. This program is unique in Ontario.

Students in the Denturism program are educated within the guidelines of the Denturist’s scope of practice. This includes assessment, treatment planning, design, fabrication and maintenance of various dental prostheses and oral devices.

George Brown College's Honours Bachelor of Science (Dental Hygiene) (S305) is the first fully online one-year degree completion program in dental hygiene offered by an Ontario college. Apply to this program if you are a dental hygienist interested in expanding your career and educational pathway opportunities. To qualify, applicants must be a graduate of an Ontario Dental Hygiene Advanced Diploma (three-year) or an Ontario Dental Hygiene Diploma (two-year) program from an accredited publicly funded program, e.g., George Brown or other community colleges, with a minimum GPA of 3.0. 

Restorative Dental Hygiene is a two-semester graduate certificate program open to registered dental hygienists who have a minimum of one year of work experience. Students will learn how to perform advanced restorative procedures and preventive measures. Those interested in advancing their skill set and expanding their scope of clinical practice should consider this program. 

Autism and Behavioural Science is a postgraduate program that focuses on autism spectrum disorders and therapies, mainly Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), with a primary application for children and adolescents. You will gain practical experience working with treatment teams.

Behavioural Science Technician is a two-year diploma program that provides you with an opportunity to study Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). This field of study helps prepare you for work that is often related to developmental disabilities, brain injuries, gerontology and behavioural disorders.

Behavioural Science Technician (Accelerated) is a one-year intensive program for those who have a bachelor's degree in psychology or a related field. This accelerated diploma provides students with an opportunity to study applied behaviour analysis (ABA) and behavioural intervention.

Clinical Methods in Orthotics/Prosthetics is a joint program with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and other facilities that teaches you how to assess and fit patients with artificial limbs, braces and splints. This program is unique in Ontario.

The Hearing Instrument Specialist program provides students with the opportunity to study and develop clinical skills that will enable them to test hearing, select appropriate hearing instruments and dispense these aids to those in need. For applicants with a relevant degree or diploma, we offer an opportunity for advanced standing into semester 3 of the program.

Honours Bachelor of Behaviour Analysis is a four-year degree program that combines philosophy, methodology and theory with a strong applied learning component to create a comprehensive understanding of behavioural psychology and, more specifically, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

The Honours Bachelor of Behaviour Analysis (S303) degree program stream is open to students who have successfully completed two years of an approved behavioural science technology or technician program. This five-semester program starts with a spring/summer bridging semester that leads into year three (or semester 5) of the four-year degree. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of behavioural psychology and, more specifically, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

The Honours Bachelor of Behaviour Analysis (S304) degree program stream is open to students who have successfully completed a three-year advanced diploma in an approved behavioural science technology program. This three-semester program starts with a winter bridging semester that leads into year four (or semester 7) of the four-year honours degree. Students will gain a comprehensive understanding of behavioural psychology and, more specifically, Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA).

Orthotic/Prosthetic Technician is a practice-oriented, hands-on program that teaches students to be competent with many hand tools and specialized machines used in the fabrication of orthotic and prosthetic devices. This program is unique in Canada.

Recreation Management in Gerontology is a two-year diploma program that will provide you with specialized knowledge in the field of aging and the ability to design and deliver meaningful therapeutic programs to enhance the quality of life of older adults. This Ontario College Diploma program is unique in Ontario.

The Dental Office Administration program will equip you with a strong combination of the office administrative skills and clinical knowledge necessary to work effectively in a dental practice. We prepare students to work in this sector by providing hands-on field placement opportunities.

Health Information Management prepares graduates to participate in the collection and organization of health information. Over the course of two years, students will develop the skills and knowledge they need to work as health information practitioners.

The Office Administration – Health Services program gives you the opportunity to develop the specialized skills you need to work in a variety of health care settings. These include relevant technological skills like computer applications and specialized software, medical terminology, clinical and office procedures, effective oral and written communication skills and soft skills such as interpersonal skills, teamwork and customer service.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing is a nursing degree program offered collaboratively between George Brown College, Toronto Metropolitan University and Centennial College. This four-year degree is a requirement for anyone wishing to work as a registered nurse in the province of Ontario. This program, offered across all three sites, provides diverse clinical placements, simulation-based education, and interactive teaching and learning. Graduates can write the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), apply for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario, and pursue nursing positions in a variety of health care settings. This program is accredited by the Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN).

The Interprofessional Complex and Long-Term Care program is a graduate certificate that prepares graduates to manage or coordinate a team of health care providers in complex and long-term care environments. This program is delivered online.

The September 2022 intake is now closed.The two-semester Personal Support Worker (PSW) program teaches students the skills required to provide or assist with personal care for the elderly, the chronically ill and persons with accessibility challenges. These patients may live in the community, in long-term care facilities or in select ambulatory care settings. Classes are held online and onsite at our state-of-the-art Daphne Cockwell Centre for Health Sciences located at the Waterfront Campus.

The one-semester Personal Support Worker Pathway to Practical Nursing program prepares Personal Support Worker (PSW) graduates for entry into the Practical Nursing (PN) program. Created and designed by the Sally Horsfall Eaton School of Nursing faculty, this 252-hour program is offered full-time at approximately 18 hours per week.

The two-year Practical Nursing program teaches students the foundational skills required to work as a practical nurse. Following successful completion of the program, graduates will be eligible to write the Regulatory Exam – Practical Nurse (REx-PN™).

Registered Nurse – Critical Care Nursing is a one-semester postgraduate program that prepares registered nurses to give competent care to critically ill individuals and their families.

This program will help you learn or improve your English, and prepare you for post-secondary study and future employment. The EAP program provides you with exciting student life opportunities through co- and extracurricular events and workshops. 

The General Arts and Science two-year (four semesters) diploma at George Brown College is designed for students to strengthen their academic skills and refine their goals for further post-secondary studies. Articulation agreements with several universities enable pathways to a number of selected degree programs with advanced standing. The program includes a wide range of required courses within arts and humanities, social sciences, and science, as well as a choice of two liberal studies elective courses to ensure breadth in thinking and analytical skills. Courses emphasize the development of skills in research, writing, oral communications and critical thinking, providing excellent preparation for work or further college or university studies.

The General Arts and Science one-year certificate at George Brown College is designed for students who wish to develop the skills and competencies required in college, university and the workplace. As a student in this program, you will explore subjects within humanities, social sciences, and science and mathematics; develop skills in critical thinking, oral and written communications and career development; and acquire knowledge and explore ideas in a range of disciplines to meet your needs and interests. Students who meet GPA requirements may transfer into the two-year diploma program, which has established pathways to a number of universities.

Academic Upgrading is a tuition-free, full-time/part-time program for English-speaking adults, designed to improve your reading, writing, math and science skills. The program prepares you for college-level post-secondary studies, further skills training, apprenticeship or employment. As a student, you will create individualized learning plans based on your goals.For acceptance into the program, you are required to complete a reading and writing assessment to determine your literacy levels and eligibility for the program. While in the program, you are provided with advising services and may be eligible for a transportation allowance. The program runs year-round and runs new-student orientation classes every seven weeks (one week prior to the beginning of each semester and during each mid-semester intersession).Beginning Fall 2022, students will have the choice between courses offered in-person and online, subject to availability.  Students who are eligible may receive transportation subsidy, a netbook and/or monthly Internet device while registered and regularly attending the program.

The Academic Upgrading Program for Deaf and hard-of-hearing adults is the only college-based Academic Upgrading program in Toronto with all courses taught in American Sign Language (ASL).The program is for Deaf and hard-of-hearing students who want to upgrade their English, ASL and math for success in further education, training or employment. New students can join the program in September or January. There is no tuition fee for this program. Transportation subsidy is available for qualified students. The program is funded by Employment Ontario through the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD).During the COVID-19 pandemic, all courses are delivered online. Students who are eligible may receive a netbook and/or monthly Internet device while registered and regularly attending the program.

The College Vocational program is a supportive program that will help you bridge the gap if you have graduated from high school with workplace credits, an Ontario Secondary School Diploma, or an Ontario Secondary School Certificate and are encountering barriers to finding appropriate and meaningful work.The program offers you career exploration and planning, intrapersonal and interpersonal skills development, workplace communications and math, a range of inventories and self-assessments, as well as preparation for and participation in a work experience placement.Upon successful completion, you will graduate with an Ontario College Certificate.

This unique program provides people who have a history of addiction and/or mental health challenges with the opportunity to receive training and employment in the construction industry. The Construction Craft Worker Foundations program is designed for students who see work as part of their recovery process. The goal of this program is to help people with barriers to training and employment take the first steps toward a job in Toronto’s construction industry.

The program is designed for students who see work as part of their recovery process. The goal of this program is to help people with barriers to training and employment take the first steps toward a job in Toronto’s food industry.

The Human Services Foundations program (formerly Pre-Community Services A103) provides opportunities for you to develop skills for admission to a number of Community Services programs at George Brown College. You will gain an overview of the helping field, including roles and systemic issues and a theoretical basis through courses in sociology and psychology. A strong emphasis on learning in groups encourages co-operation, teamwork and mutual support.

The Pre-Business program provides academic strengthening and exposure to a broad cross-section of business fields. This unique program offers a strong foundation in business, marketing, accounting, math and English. Many credits earned through this program can be used toward diploma-level programs at the college. Upon graduation, you are given advanced standing in the Centre for Business diploma programs. Graduates are well-prepared to continue on to further education in the Centre for Business or to pursue other career paths.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program is designed to provide you with the core knowledge, skills, and abilities fundamental to academic success in pursuing health sciences programs at the advanced diploma or degree level. Successful completion of this program enables you to apply to multiple post-secondary degree or advanced diploma programs. This program will also provide you with the opportunity to learn about potential careers in the health sciences and to identify other programs that will enable you to achieve your career objectives.Applicants interested in pursuing a one-year certificate or two-year diploma program at the college level can apply to the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas program prepares you to perform at a level that will assist you in gaining entry to a Health Sciences program at George Brown College, including Practical Nursing. It also gives you a basic understanding of social sciences and human relations. This helps you relate to people at college in further studies and at work in health care institutions or with health care providers. Throughout the program, you will study biology and chemistry. Other courses include applied math, communications and general education electives.Applicants interested in pursuing a three-year advanced diploma or four-year degree program at the college or university level can apply to the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees (A108) program.

Transitions to Post-Secondary Education is a supported education, three-semester program for individuals who identify mental health and/or addictions challenges as barriers to education and/or employment. As a student in this program, you will have the opportunity to assess new pathways to academic and employment success.
