Program Description

Program Overview

The 16-week Industrial Power Sewing certificate program prepares you to work in an industrial sewing environment. After completing this program, you’ll be able to construct standard garments using industrial machines to a high standard. You’ll also gain experience using specialty sewing machines and pressing equipment.

Full Description

The 16-week Industrial Power Sewing certificate program prepares you to enter the fast-growing field of production sewing within Canada. If you’ve never sewn before, or only have some experience, we’ll train you to:

  • use industrial sewing machines
  • complete standard operations for garment details in woven fabrics
  • complete garments of increasing complexity

Using industrial methods and working to exacting standards, you’ll learn to deliver a high-quality finished product. After completing your in-class instruction, you’ll embark on an exciting work-integrated learning experience with an industry partner.

Classes take place at our vibrant hub, Fashion Exchange (FX), at 63 Regent Park Blvd. FX is more than a learning lab; it's also a production facility readily accessible to local designers and fashion producers where you will be immersed in day-to-day apparel manufacturing operations.
