Program Description
Program Overview
Prepare for a career in AI and software development with the Computer Programming – AI Solutions two-year diploma program. Learn the programming, data and development skills needed to build practical, responsible and production-ready software and AI solutions in a range of industries.
Full Description
Artificial intelligence is an important component of software products, business systems, and digital services in many industries. Organizations need technology professionals who can do more than use AI tools: they need graduates who understand how to program, prepare data, evaluate models, integrate AI capabilities into applications and operate those solutions responsibly.
In the Computer Programming – AI Solutions (T199) two-year diploma program, you’ll develop the programming, software-development, and data skills needed to create practical AI-enabled solutions. The program combines the established foundations of computer programming with specialized study in machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, AI security, and production deployment.
You’ll establish a strong foundation in Python and object-oriented programming, web and full-stack development, databases, Linux operating systems, and mathematics for computer technology. Building on these skills, you’ll learn to prepare data for AI applications and explore supervised, unsupervised and advanced machine-learning methods, including neural networks and deep learning.
Applied learning and practical experience
Through hands-on projects, you’ll integrate machine-learning models and generative AI services into secure, user-focused applications. You’ll also learn to test and evaluate AI systems, address cybersecurity risks, apply principles of ethics, governance and explainability, and deploy and monitor AI solutions using modern optimization and MLOps practices.
The program culminates in an experiential capstone project in which you’ll design, develop, evaluate and present an AI-enabled solution to an authentic organizational or community need. By graduation, you’ll be prepared to contribute to multidisciplinary teams developing responsible, production-ready software and AI solutions across a range of industries.
Career & Postgraduate Study Opportunities
Industry
Artificial intelligence is increasingly being incorporated into software applications, digital services and organizational processes across industries such as finance, health care, manufacturing, transportation, retail, government, media and professional services. Organizations need technology professionals who can combine programming and software-development skills with an understanding of data, machine learning and responsible AI practices.
The Computer Programming – AI Solutions program responds to this need by preparing students to develop, integrate, test and deploy AI-enabled software solutions. Students gain practical experience with Python, full-stack development, databases, Linux, data engineering, machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, cybersecurity and cloud-based deployment. The program also addresses model evaluation, AI ethics, governance and explainability, helping graduates contribute to the development of secure, reliable and responsible AI applications.
Educational Pathways
Graduates of the Computer Programming – AI Solutions program may continue their education in diploma programs such as:
Graduates can also continue their education directly to any of the postgraduate certificates such as:
- T431 — AI Solutions Development
- T426 — AI for Robotics
- T465 — Cloud Computing Technologies
- T428 — Digital Product Management
- T405 — Information Systems Business Analysis
- T433 — Cyber Security
After completing an eligible diploma or advanced diploma, graduates may pursue further educational pathways into degree programs in areas such as information technology, computer science, software development, data analytics, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence or related disciplines.
