Program Overview

With the Acting for Media two-year diploma program, you'll learn everything you need to succeed as a screen actor. We'll train you to be a professional actor or voice-over artist, whether you want to work in film, TV, online, games, or interactive mediums.

Full Description

The Acting for Media two-year diploma program is your gateway to mastering the art of screen acting. Our comprehensive curriculum covers a range of skills, including acting technique, movement, voice, and script analysis. You'll learn to embody characters convincingly, refine your on-camera presence, and navigate the etiquette and standards of auditioning.

As a graduate, you won't just be a skilled actor—you'll possess a deep understanding of the industry's historical context, structure, hierarchy, and professional standards. Through workshop simulations, on-camera exercises, voice-over demonstrations, green-screen training, and motion-capture training, you'll have all the essential skills you need to succeed in the field.

But we don't stop there––as the film landscape evolves, so does our program. You'll explore emerging technologies like phonography and immersive environments, enhancing your readiness for the future of screen acting.

Student Selection

We've limited enrolment for this program so we can provide each student with the individual attention they need to excel. Admission is competitive and is based on the results of auditions and interview questions. 

Note: you must achieve a minimum academic standing plus passing grades in acting to move on to the next semester.

Actors move across multiple platforms, including film, television, interaction storytelling, motion capture for gaming and animation, and voice-over for narration or dubbing.

An ever-expanding local film and screen industry creates a consistent demand for fresh faces and new talent in a range of educational, entertainment, and commercial activities. Students should be aware, however, that the field is extremely competitive.

Recognized by the Alliance of Canadian Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA), graduates can apply within one year and join ACTRA as an Apprentice member. As a member, you can look for representation and audition as a union member.

Program Overview

The Acting for Media program moves beyond acting for film and television and comprises the training needed to succeed as a screen actor whether for film, television, online, game or interactive mediums. Students will learn to apply their craft as professional actors and voice-over artists to all media.

Full Description

The Acting for Media program goes beyond just acting for film and television and comprises training needed for you to succeed as a screen actor: acting technique, movement, voice and script analysis. You will learn to articulate yourself through screen characterization, on-camera experience and audition etiquette and standards. As a graduate from one of Canada’s Top 20 Acting Schools, you will have a solid knowledge base of the industry including its history, structure and hierarchy and professional standards. Workshop simulations, on-camera exercises, voice-over demonstrations, green-screen training and training in motion-capture suits provide you with the skills needed to be a successful actor in the field.

Thanks to technological advancements within the film industry, actors are being called upon to characterize in new and interesting ways. Students will be given a basic understanding of the use of such new technology as phonography and immersive environments.

Student Selection

Enrolment is limited, ensuring adequate personal attention is given to each student. Admission is competitive, based on the results of auditions and questions. A minimum academic standing plus passing grades in acting must be achieved in order to be promoted to the next semester.
