Students enrolled in the School of Computer Technology’s postgraduate programs are required to complete a Co-op or Experiential Learning work term in their final semester. To provide the most relevant and meaningful work experiences for both students and industry, our Field Education Team is on hand to prepare students, post jobs and manage all documentation as part of the placement process, including student assessments, insurance forms and documentation required for tax credits* and/or wage subsidies**

Depending on the program of study, employers can hire students within the parameters of the co-op work term as set by the academic curriculum.

 

Applied A.I. Solutions Development (T431)

Applied A.I. Solutions Development (T431)

Student Areas of Expertise:

  • Develop and deploy complete machine learning/deep learning production systems
  • Assess and apply appropriate mathematical models, algorithms, tools, and frameworks to develop A.I.-enabled, industry-specific solutions.
  • Design and present A.I. solutions effectively to stakeholders through the use of data visualizations.

Required Hours to Complete:

  • 360 - 600 hours*

Blockchain Development (T175)

Blockchain Development (T175)

Student Areas of Expertise:

  • Smart contracts
  • Design patterns for blockchain
  • Distributed applications (dApps)
  • Full stack development
  • Blockchain architecture, security practices, laws, and regulations and more

Health Informatics (Postgraduate) (T402)

Health Informatics (Postgraduate) (T402)

Student Areas of Expertise:

  • Formulate change strategies to implement appropriate health information systems technologies (HIST)
  • Apply business and system analysis techniques to evaluate the effectiveness of HIST
  • Design and prototype web and mobile health apps.
  • Integrate relevant standards and professional, ethical, and legislative requirements with the appropriate HIST

Mobile Application Development and Strategy (T440)

Mobile Application Development and Strategy (T440)

Student Areas of Expertise:

  • Java and Swift programming languages
  • HTML 5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Implement native mobile applications for iOS and Android
  • Develop solution architectures to support mobile applications

Required Hours to Complete:

  • 360 - 600 hours*

NOTES

*Employers who pay an hourly wage can hire students to work full-time hours for a maximum length of 15 weeks within the academic semester. Employers who are offering unpaid positions are limited to hiring students for a maximum of 240 hours for the academic semester.
