Are you interested in learning how to build resilience and boost well-being? George Brown College’s Community Club is offering free weekly classes this spring and summer that can help.

The Community Club is a partnership between Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences and Counselling and Student Well-being at George Brown. The club offers classes based on things students say they want to learn. The programs provide a low-intensity and low-barrier environment, and they focus on CHIME principles of Connect, Hope, Identity, Meaning and Empowerment.

Interested? The following three classes are running this spring and summer:

Self-Discovery: Looking Inward, Thursdays, 5 – 6 p.m., May 26 – June 23
Build a healthy and happy relationship with yourself. Look inwards to gain a deeper sense of understanding and compassion for your experiences. We can leverage our authentic self to live a purposeful and meaningful life.

Adulting 101, Fridays, noon to 1 p.m., May 27 - June 24
As adults, we are expected to know things we are never taught. We will discuss life skills relevant to students to allow you to "work smarter, not harder". Learn how to put your adulting skills into practice.

Let's Get Cookin', Thursdays, 4 – 5 p.m., July 4 - August 4
Explore the cooking world, including different cuisines and different dishes. If you have an aversion to cooking and want to get more comfortable, or if you love to cook and want to grow your skills, this course is for you. We will learn about different recipes, kitchen safety, and how to shop and cook smart.
