IMPORTANT NOTICE

PASS/NOT PASS OPTIONS FOR WINTER 2020 & OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPTS

If you request the Pass/No Pass (P/NP) option and also require an official transcript, you should request that your transcript be sent after June 1, 2020.

If you request a transcript before this date and a change is made to your academic record, you will be required to submit and pay for a new request.

As a result of the College closure, effective March 16, the following processes and requests will be available online only:

  • Transcript Requests: please visit records.georgebrown.ca to request your official electronic documents. All mailing will commence once the College has reopened all operations. Please email records@georgebrown.caif you have more questions.
    • If you attended before 1995, there will be limited access to transcripts electronically, please email records@georgebrown.ca with request form and instructions on next steps will be provided 
    • Note, transcripts requested on or before March 13, 2020, have been processed and mailed
  • Credentials: all credential issuing (Diplomas, Certificates, Degrees) will commence once the College has reopened operations. 
    • Post-secondary graduates: Digital credentials are available online at records.georgebrown.ca
    • Continuing Education graduates: All Certificate issuing will commence once the College has reopened operations.  Please email records@georgebrown.ca if you have more questions.
  • Nursing License Requests: all processing will commence once the College has reopened operations. 

Academic Records

Your academic record reflects your academic achievements while at George Brown College. You may need it to apply for a job or to another college or university. Your name as it appears on your STU-View record will be printed on your credential and transcript. It is in your best interest to ensure your record is correct (e.g. proper spelling of your name).

The Office of the Registrar performs the following functions to assist you:

  • Processes student grades and academic standing when these are received from the academic faculties.
  • Computes grade points and grade point averages.
  • Produces transcripts.
  • Grants diplomas, certificates and degrees.

Access to Records

Your records (personal information) are the property of the college. The college is bound by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (2002). Only you (or someone with your written permission) can view and obtain a copy of your records. To protect your confidentiality and the college’s liability, you must provide written consent for a third party to access or discuss personal information held by the college.

Self-Service Transcript, Credential, and Confirmation of Enrolment Requests

In order for our office to provide quick and efficient service for George Brown College students, alumni and external organizations, we have moved our services to a secure online self-service website: https://records.georgebrown.ca.

IMPORTANT NOTICE - CHANGES TO TRANSCRIPT PROCESSES

Starting August 16, 2019 requests for official transcripts must be made online at records.georgebrown.ca. Paper requests submitted in person at any of our Service Centres will be processed by mail and cannot be produced immediately. For additional request options, please select 'Transcript' below.

Requests for confirmation of enrolments, transcripts, and credential replacements have also moved to this new system and confirmation of enrolments are now $15.00.

Transcripts

A transcript is a complete record of the grades you earned while attending the college. An unofficial transcript is available within your STU-View account at stuview.georgebrown.ca. Official transcripts may be requested through the options below. If an official transcript is to be presented to an educational institution, it must be addressed to the institution and presented in a sealed envelope with the official college stamp. It is recommended that these requests be mailed directly to institution by the college.

Official Transcript Requests

  • Each individual transcript copy is $15.00 Canadian dollars (taxes and shipping included, for any destination).
  • Each transcript contains all courses and programs completed at George Brown College by the student.
  • This fee is non-refundable once processed.

How to Request an Official Transcript:

Request online through George Brown College: records.georgebrown.ca

  • This service is available to students and alumni who attended after 1995. Please see information below if you attended prior to 1995 or have supplemental documents to submit with Transcript.
  • Processing times:
    • Available online in 2 – 3 business days.
    • Receipt by mail in 3 – 5 business days to local addresses and 5 – 15 days to all other destinations (note, some international destinations may have longer than normal mailing times).
    • Processing times may increase during peak periods (January, May, June, and September).

Request online through Ontario Colleges or Ontario University Application Centre:

  • If you are requesting a transcript for an Ontario post-secondary institution, and an application has already been submitted through Ontario Colleges or the Ontario University Application Centre, an online transcript request can be made on their websites. Visit Ontario Colleges or the Ontario University Application Centre.

When to use a Transcript Request Form:

  • If you attended prior to 1995.
  • You require any supplemental forms to be included with the transcript (for example, World Education Services forms or a Nursing License - see below for more information on Nursing License requests-,).
  • If you need to pay for transcript by cash – see below for more information.

Processing times:

  • Receipt by mail in 5 – 10 business days to local addresses and 5 – 20 days to all other destinations (note, some international destinations may have longer than normal mailing times).
  • Processing times may increase during peak periods (January, May, June, and September).

Nursing License Requests:

  • These requests require a transcript, a record of program, and are often accompanied by documentation to be completed by the college.
  • Include a completed Transcript Request Form along with completed Request for Academic Records from the licensing body.

A fee of $85.00 is required for these requests ($15.00 for the transcript & $70.00 for the Nursing License forms and program information). Please allow 4-6 weeks for processing.

Bachelor of Science Nursing program (S118):

Transcripts for the collaborative Nursing program are available only through Ryerson University. You can obtain a transcript request form online at www.ryerson.ca/registrar/students/forms or by contacting the Ryerson Records department at 416-979-5136.

Paying by cash:

  • Forms can be completed and submitted at any Student Services location and transcripts will be mailed to the address provided. To receive an electronic copy, as well as the mailed copy, students should still create a Student/Alumni account at records.georgebrown.ca.
  • Requests must be accompanied by valid photo identification (a driver’s license, passport, or George Brown College Student Photo ID Card).
  • Requests made by anyone other than student will require written consent from the student. The written consent must include the name of student, the name of the third party, the date, and a signature. The third party must provide valid photo identification before the request can be made.

Credential Requests

We will replace your diploma, certificate or degree, if it is lost, stolen or destroyed. Multiple copies of credentials (diplomas, certificates, degrees) will not be produced.

How to Request Replacement Credential:

Request online through George Brown College: records.georgebrown.ca

  • Available to graduates who attended after 1995 and attended post-secondary programs only. If you attended prior to 1995 or completed a Continuing Education Certificate, please complete the Credential Replacement Request Form.
  • Receipt by mail in 3 – 10 business days to local addresses and 5 – 20 days to all other destinations. Please note: some international destinations may have longer than normal mailing times.

  • Forms can be completed and submitted at any Student Services location and the credential will be mailed to the address provided.
  • Requests must be accompanied by valid photo identification (a driver’s license, passport, or George Brown College Student Photo ID Card).
  • Requests made by anyone other than student will require written consent from the student. The written consent must include the name of student, the name of the third party, the date, and a signature. The third party must provide valid photo identification before the request can be made.

Confirmation of Enrolment & Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) Requests

Proof of enrolment letters and RESP forms provide proof that you are registered at George Brown College. A student must be registered in courses at the time of request in order to receive confirmation of enrolment. Requests for confirmation of enrolment letters and completion of RESP forms for domestic students will now cost $15 per request and are available by academic year (September – August). 

If you are an international student, please fill in the form to request Proof of Enrollment or graduation letter.
If you require a Confirmation of Enrollment for OSAP, please contact our Financial Aid office at finaid@georgebrown.ca.

How to Request a Confirmation of Enrolment & RESP Form:

  • This service is available to domestic students in post-secondary programs in the current academic year.
  • Processing times:
    • Available online in 2 – 3 business days.
    • Processing times may increase during peak periods (January, May, June, and September).

Note: Not all post-secondary students will have a confirmation of enrolment available through records.georgebrown.ca. If you require a confirmation of enrolment but one is not available online, please contact registration@georgebrown.ca with a completed Confirmation of Enrolment & RESP Request Form.

Education Verification

Employers or other third parties requiring information about a student or alumni’s registration, academic history, or credentials can submit an Education Verification Request form.

  • The request cost is $20.
  • Signed consent to disclose must be included with request.

Holds on Student Records

  • Transcripts, credentials and confirmation of enrolments & RESP forms will not be released if there is an Accounts Receivable or a Library Hold for outstanding fees or materials.
  • Students are responsible for ensuring that their account is clear of any holds.

Course Outlines, Descriptions, and Other Documents 

  • The Office of the Registrar does not provide course outlines.
  • Course outlines and descriptions are available by visiting our website's course outlines page or by contacting your academic department.
  • Any transcripts submitted as part of your admission application cannot be obtained.
