Sacred Fire Ceremony
Indigenous Initiatives will hold a Sacred Fire Ceremony on Friday, September 29, to commemorate Orange Shirt Day, honouring the survivors of residential schools and the children who never returned home. All members of the George Brown College community are invited to attend.

Celebrating Grads of the Wisdom Program
As part of GBC's partnership with the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation (MCFN), we delivered the Nibwaakaawin (Wisdom) program in the MCFN community in September. Ten students completed the education and career exploration program.

Graduate Spotlight
GBC Community Worker program grad and Indigenous entrepreneur Emily Clairoux creates art with beads, leather, and digital animation, inspired by her heritage and the environment. Her business, Eagle Woman Arts, has been running for 5 years.

The 2023 RGD Student Award winners were announced in September, and the School of Design was well represented in several categories.

Johar, a 2017 graduate of the Culinary Management program, recently opened Barkat and the Queen Street West eatery continues to generate buzz earning online features in Streets of Toronto, BlogTO and more.

We are aware of and have been actively monitoring the evolving diplomatic situation between the governments of Canada and India, given that the college and many students, faculty and staff have direct and indirect connections to India.
