The Fashion Techniques and Design two-year diploma program prepares you for an exciting career in garment-manufacturing design rooms. This is a women's wear program that focuses on pattern drafting and sewing skills. Using industrial machines, you'll learn the essentials of technical illustration, pattern making, pattern grading, and clothing construction. Additional core subjects include textiles, technical specifications, and history of costume.

In our one-year Gemmology certificate program, you'll learn to analyze and classify a wide variety of gem materials, with both natural and artificial origins. You'll delve into the chemical and physical attributes of gems, learning to differentiate between various types using instruments like microscopes, spectroscopes, refractometers, and polariscopes. This knowledge will allow you to classify gem materials based on their desirable characteristics, which ultimately determine their value.

The 16-week Industrial Power Sewing certificate program prepares you to work in an industrial sewing environment. After completing this program, you'll be able to construct standard garments using industrial machines to a high standard. You'll also gain experience using specialty sewing machines and pressing equipment.

Continuing Education ESL Pathway to George Brown College Certificates and Diplomas will help you meet the minimum English Language admissions requirement for any of George Brown's full-time Ontario College Certificate or Diploma programs. This pathway is available within George Brown College only.

George Brown College’s English as a Second Language (ESL) (Part-Time) Certificate is an accelerated hybrid program to develop your English language skills for personal, professional, and academic purposes. With eight levels catering to every skill level, from beginner to advanced, you'll find your perfect fit. Each level runs for six weeks and includes a mix of activities that will strengthen your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. You'll also get to choose from an array of elective courses tailored to your unique needs, for a personalized learning experience.

George Brown College's English for Professional Success Certificate will give you the English language skills you need to succeed in Canada's highly competitive workplace.
