Program Description

Program Overview

The Industrial Power Sewing program prepares you to work in an industrial sewing environment. Graduates have the ability to complete standard garment construction work using industrial machines to a quality standard. You will also gain experience using specialty sewing machines and pressing equipment.

Full Description

Industrial Power Sewing prepares you to enter the rapidly growing field of production sewing within Canada. Learners who have never sewn before, or who come with some sewing experience, are trained to:

  • use industrial sewing machines
  • complete standard operations for garment details in woven fabrics
  • complete garments of increasing complexity

Using industrial methods and working to exacting standards, you will learn to deliver a high-quality finished product.

Completion of in-class instruction is followed by a work-integrated learning experience with an industry partner.

The Industrial Power Sewing program is offered through our School of Fashion and Jewellery and classes take place at our Fashion Exchange (FX), located at 63 Regent Park Blvd. FX is more than a learning lab; it's also a production facility readily accessible to local designers and fashion producers where you will be immersed in day-to-day apparel manufacturing operations.
