GBC design students win Association of Registered Graphic Designers awards

George Brown College (GBC) design students have been recognized by the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD), winning six categories in the organization’s annual student awards.

The 2023 RGD Student Award winners were announced earlier this month, and the School of Design was well represented in several categories.

Congratulations to recent Graphic Design graduate Kendra Legault for being named one of the 2023 RGD Student Trailblazers (her work, Re-Orient, pictured right). The Trailerblazer Award acknowledges and celebrates the work of students from marginalized and under-represented communities.

And a big shout out to all GBC student award winners for the outstanding work they’ve created. Congrats to our students who won the following awards:

  • Russel Banfield-Vizcarrondo, the 52-Pick up Inc Award in Typography
  • Nina Hidaka for the Arnold Street Media Inc. Award in Logo Design
  • Kendra Legault for the Context Creative Award in Storytelling
  • Nathan Leung for the Gravity Design Award in Social Good Design and the q30 design inc. Award in Brand Design
  • Nicole Zohorsky for the Gravity Design Award in Social Good Design.

Pat yourselves on the back for your commitment to building successful and rewarding careers.

Fellow students Daria Khazova, Camila de Araújo, Patricia Marinay, Jasmine Silang, Theo Sholomitskyi Odrach, Jiachen Wang, Pantea Kouhpayeh, and Julia Do Alamo all earned honourable mentions from RGD.

And our students wouldn’t achieve amazing things without the hard work and dedication of our faculty. Congratulations to you as well!
