The George Brown College community will be watching when grad Chris Patrician barrels down the track in Beijing as Team Canada goes for gold in the four-man bobsleigh event at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games.
Patrician, a 2020 graduate of the Building Renovation Technology program, and his teammates race in heats one and two on February 18, and heats three and four on February 19. Find all the details at olympic.ca.
“I am feeling very excited heading into the event. The Olympics has been a truly special experience so far and I am so grateful for the support I have been getting from back home,” Patrician said. “My team and I feel great going into the event. We are looking forward to representing Canada and putting down a performance we can be proud of.”
Jules Lewis, Program Coordinator for the Building Renovation Technology program, said Patrician was an outstanding student, “the kind of student you dream about having in your class.”
"We still talk about him as a benchmark of performance. He’s a real team player. He is conscientious, hardworking, thoughtful and produces consistently excellent results — all traits that I'm sure contribute to his success as an athlete and an Olympian,” Lewis said. “He's already a medallist in our opinion.”
Patrician told us he “really enjoyed” the program and he thought “the team of instructors was amazing.” He plans to pursue a career as a woodworker and carpenter after his sporting career, according to his Bobsleigh Canada Skeleton bio.
Another GBC Olympic bobsleigh connection
George Brown grad, and then-graphic design student, Josh Dornan created the graphics emblazoned on Team Canada's bobsleigh and skeleton sleds for the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang.
Dornan’s sled designs were inspired by a Canada 150 CF18 Hornet that toured across the country in 2017.
