5 tools for students that make online learning easier

Great tools make online learning much easier. George Brown College students can access a range of apps and services to save time, pick up new skills and improve collaboration. 

Our Online Learning Guide provides an overview of what to expect when you start classes and instructions on how to use some of the tools below. 

  1. Blackboard 

Blackboard is an online learning environment and George Brown’s learning management system. 

You’ll be spending lots of time on Blackboard. Our Online Learning guide provides a solid overview of everything you need to know. 

  1. Office 365 

Use this service to store documents and access materials from multiple devices. Office 365 also comes in handy if you're working in a group and want to share documents for editing. 

Full-time students receive one terabyte of storage. 

  1. AppsAnywhere 

This free on-demand service gives you access to great software when and where you need it. 

  1. Linkedin Learning 

If you want to pick up time management tips, learn how to use a software program or how to better collaborate with colleagues, Linkedin Learning has you covered. Students have access to thousands of instructional videos. 

  1. Library equipment loans 

If you don’t have the hardware required to learn online, George Brown’s library has you covered. Students can borrow laptops, tablets and WiFi hotspots. 

Technical difficulties? 

If you need help resetting a password, fixing an email issue or have questions about IT-related services, you can submit a help desk ticket. 

Students who need Blackboard help can access 24/7 support.
