Biography
Dr. Sujit Kumar Dutta has lived and worked in Canada, England, Bangladesh, India and Thailand. He has a great passion for teaching and has over 25 years of varied teaching experience in college and university settings in Canada and overseas and has taught a wide range of courses in composition, rhetoric and literature. Dr. Dutta was Chair, Department of English, University of Chittagong, Bangladesh, where he supervised and monitored the activities of faculty and support staff, set educational goals and set policies to achieve them. As Director of Executive’s Care, an English-language teaching centre that offers courses and conducts TOEFL and IELTS tests, his duties included revising teaching materials, setting goals and developing marketing strategies.
Having studied and worked in so many different settings, Dr. Dutta has gained a truly multicultural outlook that is reflected in his teaching. He encourages dialogue by raising critical issues and engaging students in problem-posing and problem-solving debates. He goes beyond teaching the "mere facts" and helps students develop and refine their ideas and examine the world from different perspectives. Dr. Dutta is an accomplished writer. His articles and reviews on language, literature, and teaching methodology have appeared in scholarly journals, including Language and Style (CUNY, USA), Forum (USA), Chauce: Journal of Philology and Pedagogy (Spain), and O'Scholar (UK).
