Biography
Julie Cichon is a graduate of George Brown College School of Fashion & Jewellery in the Creative Fashion Design program. She also holds a Certificate from St. Clair College in In-Service Teacher Training. She worked as a Quality Control Supervisor in an intimate apparel company and as a Pattern Maker and Grader for a major ladies’ sportswear manufacturer. These experiences prepared her for teaching pattern making, grading, lingerie, and teaching computer aided pattern-making courses. Her strong commitment to fashion education at George Brown College stems from more than 20 years of industry and teaching experience which focused on apparel design and apparel production. She is a member of faculty at George Brown College where she remains active in student recruitment and curriculum development. She also maintains close ties with numerous alumni and supports them in the development of their labels. She is also instrumental in the annual fashion show which, in conjunction with the 51 Division Community Police Liaison Committee Gala, raises scholarship funds for students in the community. Julie’s philosophy is a simple one: “The partnerships we develop encourage students to network with key industry players. These relationships often provide opportunities for future employment.”
