Biography

As Executive Director, Coordination and Operations for the President’s Office, Emily Bain builds partnerships with community, industry, and government stakeholders and advances strategic priorities and projects. And as Secretary to the Board of Governors, she facilitates board activities and communicates key decisions. 

Emily has nearly 15 years of experience in the college sector, leading government and community relations activities and policy work. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a deep-seated knowledge of government relations and proven herself a champion of good public policy. 

Prior to joining George Brown, she was Director of Government and Community Relations at Sheridan College. Emily also spent more than 10 years at Colleges Ontario, holding progressive leadership roles, including Senior Research and Policy Advisor; Manager, Government Relations; and Director, Government and Community Relations. 

Emily also has extensive experience working for governments in Ontario (Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities, Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Citizenship and the Legislative Assembly of Ontario) and in Scotland.  

Emily holds a BA in Political Science and Business Administration from Wilfrid Laurier University and a Master of Science in International and European Politics from the University of Edinburgh.
