Academic Credit

The technical answer is that one credit is one hour of instruction, per week, for one semester (we call this a ‘contact hour’).

In some cases a Continuing Education course will have full-time equivalency to courses offered within George Brown Polytechnic post-secondary programs. You can determine if a Continuing Education course is equivalent to a full-time course by checking the course web page on the Continuing Education website.

There are also some courses offered at George Brown Polytechnic that are not credit courses at all. These would include upgrading courses, English Skills, Computer Skills and Applications etc.

Please speak to your Academic Department for further information.
