ACCE announces $20,000 gift to George Brown College

On April 2, 2016, the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs (ACCE) announced a $20,000 gift to George Brown College to support student scholarships. A cheque was presented to the college prior to ACCE's 20th Anniversary Awards Gala.

"It is a great pleasure to recognize the accomplishments of students who possess the spirit of entrepreneurship at George Brown College," says Irwin Li, President of ACCE. "We hope to inspire and encourage business students by awarding them with scholarships that will help them establish careers as leading entrepreneurs."

In addition to celebrating the achievements of Chinese Canadians at the Gala, ACCE proudly presented $1,000 scholarships to David Wun and Shanshan Li, two George Brown Centre for Business students. The recipients were selected for their commitment to community service and their entrepreneurial experience. A further $18,000 in scholarships will be awarded in the following nine years.

"Entrepreneurship is an integral part of George Brown College and we are so glad to have donors like the Association of Chinese Canadian Entrepreneurs that support student success in this area," says Laura Jo Gunter, Senior Vice President of Academic at the College.

"We wish to thank ACCE for their support," says Cindy Gouveia, President of the George Brown College Foundation. "These scholarships will go a long way in helping our students be successful in the classroom and as they begin their careers."

Students wishing to apply for an award must complete an application through George Brown College's Awards Office.
