Celebrating International Women’s Day (IWD) at George Brown College

On March 8, 2024, we celebrate International Women's Day, to honour women's achievements and advocate for inclusion, equity, and the advancement of gender equality.

This year's theme, Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress, serves as a reminder that by championing women's success, we foster stronger communities and a more resilient society.

As we come together to celebrate International Women's Day, let us reflect on this day’s deeper significance to the ongoing journey towards an inclusive Canada and global gender equity. To truly advance these values, we must collectively address and dismantle systemic barriers that affect the complex and intersectional identities of women. During this time of global conflict and unrest, we must also continue to take these opportunities to think critically about how women are impacted by inequities, discrimination, and violence at home, in our communities and around the world. We at GBC must be committed to embracing values and steps that advance anti-racism and combat hate, all while actively fostering a sense of belonging for all.

IWD events at GBC

The GBC Fashion Exchange and Alumni Relations hosted an International Women’s Day panel at the Fashion Exchange featuring trailblazing female entrepreneurs on March 8.

We also offered coffee breaks and treats throughout the day at each of our campuses, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for meaningful discussions and celebrations of our women employees at the college.

Let's work together to create a more inclusive and equitable world for everyone, and to foster a community where everyone feels valued and respected.
