A brilliant young woman’s rise to her own potential and the trials by fire that shape her views on love and loyalty.

TORONTO (October 11, 2023) – George Brown Theatre School’s 3-year Theatre Arts Performance program opens its 2023-24 season with Jane Eyre.

Jane Eyre - written by Erin Shields, adapted from the novel by Charlotte Brontë. Directed by Marie Farsi*

One of literary history’s great characters brought to life by one of Canada's most exciting playwrights. Jane Eyre explores a brilliant young woman’s rise to her own potential and the trials by fire that shape her views on love and loyalty. Erin Shields’ adaptation takes a sharp, witty, and modern feminist dive into Charlotte Brontë’s masterpiece in its romantic original setting.

Other creative artists include: Debbie Read* (stage management), Brandon Kleiman (set and costume design), Siobhán Sleath (lighting design), and Scott Banks (sound design).

The Theatre School at George Brown College is one of Canada’s foremost training grounds for young actors. The curriculum is a rigorous, conservatory-style approach where most courses are directly related to the acting profession. The faculty is comprised of working professionals (actors, directors, teachers) who guide students into achieving their potential as performing artists.
