Continuing Education ESL Pathway to George Brown College Certificates and Diplomas will help you meet the minimum English Language admissions requirement for any of George Brown's full-time Ontario College Certificate or Diploma programs. This pathway is available within George Brown College only.

George Brown College’s English as a Second Language (ESL) (Part-Time) Certificate is an accelerated hybrid program to develop your English language skills for personal, professional, and academic purposes. With eight levels catering to every skill level, from beginner to advanced, you'll find your perfect fit. Each level runs for six weeks and includes a mix of activities that will strengthen your reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. You'll also get to choose from an array of elective courses tailored to your unique needs, for a personalized learning experience.

George Brown College's English for Professional Success Certificate will give you the English language skills you need to succeed in Canada's highly competitive workplace. By polishing your verbal, listening, and written communication skills, this part-time program will build your confidence in personal and professional interactions. If you're a non-native speaker and have advanced-level English skills, this program is for you.PLEASE NOTE: Classes are delivered in-person during evenings and weekends to accommodate working professionals.

Our EAP program not only helps you improve your English but also opens doors to a vibrant student life with exciting co- and extracurricular events and workshops.

George Brown College’s General Arts and Science – English for Academic Purposes (EAP) (R105) will help you level up your English language skills, whether you're a newcomer with permanent resident status, refugee status, or Canadian citizenship. We’ll prepare you for your exciting journey into post-secondary study and future careers. Our EAP program not only helps you improve your English but also opens doors to a vibrant student life with exciting co- and extracurricular events and workshops.

The two-year General Arts and Science diploma program helps you strengthen your academic skills and refine your goals for further post-secondary studies. Through our articulation agreements with several universities, you'll be able to enter many degree programs with advanced standing. As part of this program, you'll take a wide range of required courses in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and sciences. You'll also get to choose two liberal studies electives to broaden your thinking and analytical skills.

The General Arts and Science (One-Year) certificate program helps you strengthen your skills for future academic study and entry into the workplace. Over two semesters, you'll study a range of foundational subject areas that will help you build confidence as you develop critical thinking and information literacy skills. After graduation, you can apply to other post-secondary programs, including our R101 diploma—a program with several advanced standing pathways to a variety of university degree programs.

Academic Upgrading (A751) is a tuition-free program designed to reduce barriers to accessing and succeeding in post-secondary education. If you're a mature student who hasn't completed grade 12 and wants to obtain a certificate, diploma, or degree, then this program is for you.Through a personalized assessment, we'll identify your strengths and areas for growth. You'll then participate in targeted learning activities to enhance your skills, which may include reading, writing, math, and/or science. We also offer individual counselling supports, along with academic and career advising.With multiple intakes throughout the year and options for full-time or part-time study, our program is tailored to accommodate your personal needs. You'll need to complete a reading and writing assessment to make sure the program is the right fit for you and that you receive the proper placement.PLEASE NOTE: Applicants will have the choice between courses offered in-person and online, subject to availability. Registered students who are regularly attending the program may be eligible to receive a transportation subsidy, a netbook, and/or monthly Internet device.

George Brown College’s Human Services Foundations (A113) is a two-semester program designed to kick-start your career journey. In a supportive learning environment, you'll strengthen your academic skills and be ready for an entry-level role in human services or further education in a variety of human services-related diploma programs. You'll learn about sociology and psychology and improve your communication and teamwork skills, while understanding how systemic issues affect individuals and communities. Together with classmates, you'll explore personal and professional goals and career pathway options for a successful career in human services.

The Pre-Business (A146) one-year certificate program will give you the skills you need to succeed in diploma programs and/or prepare you for entry-level jobs in the business world. You'll learn about the fundamentals in business, marketing, accounting, math, and communication, while earning credits toward diploma-level programs. After completing this program, you'll be able to apply for admission into the second semester of some of our Business Diploma programs.

George Brown College’s Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees one-year certificate program paves the way for your success in advanced diploma and degree-level health science programs.In our nurturing learning environment, you'll uncover the many possibilities that the world of health sciences offers. We'll guide you in mapping out your educational pathway, ensuring that you're on track to achieve your career goals. PLEASE NOTE: If you're aiming to fulfil the admission prerequisites needed to apply to a one-year certificate or two-year diploma health sciences program, apply to our Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas one-year certificate program will prepare you for admission to a variety of Health Sciences diploma programs, like our Practical Nursing (S121) diploma program. You'll take courses in biology, chemistry, applied math, communications, career readiness preparation, and general electives. You'll also benefit from the support of a pathway specialist who will help you navigate college and create a realistic action plan for the next steps in your education. PLEASE NOTE: If you're interested in pursuing a three-year advanced diploma or four-year degree program at the college or university level, you should apply to our Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees (A108) program.

Transitions to Post-Secondary Education (A107) is a free, supportive, three-semester program that helps those who face mental health or addictions challenges reach their education and employment goals.
