George Brown College’s Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees (A108) program will prepare you to apply for and be successful in a range of health science programs at the advanced diploma or degree level. In a supportive learning environment, you will explore potential health science career opportunities and identify educational pathways to help you meet your career goals.

Full Description

George Brown College’s Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees (A108) program will prepare you for entry for a variety of college or university health sciences programs.

This full-time program is designed to prepare you for the academic requirements of an advanced diploma or degree-level program both within George Brown and with several partner institutions. Classes are scheduled Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will both strengthen existing and build new knowledge and skills in:

  • communication
  • mathematics
  • human anatomy
  • biology
  • physics
  • organic/inorganic chemistry
  • advanced level English
  • elective courses that may be eligible for transfer credits in other programs where applicable

Bachelor of Health Sciences

Graduates of the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program are eligible to apply to:

  • Queen's University Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) (in-person or online stream). This (BHSc) program offers pathways into medical school, dentistry and pharmacy medicine.
  • Trent University - various Bachelor of Sciences degrees (not including Bachelor of Science - Nursing)

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

The following Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) programs will consider applications from (A108) graduates:

Doctor of Medicine (MD):

Unique in Ontario

George Brown is pleased to offer (A108) graduates with a previous degree in any field who are looking to become a doctor a pathway unique in Ontario! Graduates from this program can apply to the  Doctor of Medicine (MD) at St. George’s University, Grenada, West Indies. (A108) courses will qualify as the science requirement for this program.

PLEASE NOTE: Applicants interested in pursuing a one-year certificate or two-year college diploma health sciences program should apply to George Brown’s Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program.

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program is designed to provide you with the core knowledge, skills, and abilities fundamental to academic success in pursuing health sciences programs at the advanced diploma or degree level. Successful completion of this program enables you to apply to multiple post-secondary degree or advanced diploma programs. This program will also provide you with the opportunity to learn about potential careers in the health sciences and to identify other programs that will enable you to achieve your career objectives.

Applicants interested in pursuing a one-year certificate or two-year diploma program at the college level can apply to the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program.

Full Description

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees (A108) program prepares you to gain entry to health science programs at a college or university. You will develop your knowledge and skills in communication, mathematics, human anatomy, biology, physics, and organic/inorganic chemistry so that you are well-prepared for the rigours of a degree or advanced diploma program. This program contains advanced level English and elective courses that may be eligible for transfer credits in other programs where applicable.

As a graduate from this program, you are eligible to apply to the following advanced diploma programs at George Brown College:

  • Dental Hygiene
  • Denturism
  • Dental Technology
  • Hearing Instrument Specialist

The A108 program offers a pathway to the following university programs:

  • Bachelor of Health Sciences at Queen’s University
  • Trent University - various Bachelor of Sciences degrees (not including Bachelor of Science - Nursing)

The following university programs will consider applications from graduates of A108:

  • Brock University – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Humber College – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Laurentian University – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • McMaster University – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Seneca College – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Trent University/Fleming College – Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • University of Ottawa – Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Western University/Fanshawe College – Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing

For applicants with a previous degree in any field, the A108 program will qualify as the science requirements for admission to the Doctor of Medicine programs at St. George’s University. For those interested in learning more about this pathway, SGU hosts regular information sessions. Applicants interested in pursuing a one-year certificate or two-year diploma program at the college level can apply to the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Certificates and Diplomas (A109) program.

This full-time program schedules in person and online live classes from Mondays to Fridays, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., to prepare students for the academic environment found in advanced diploma and degree programs.

Career & Postgraduate Study Opportunities

Educational Pathways

The Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program prepares you to gain the admission requirements for health science programs at college and university. Graduates of this program may also be eligible for English and elective credit exemptions where applicable.

Within George Brown College, graduates can apply to many health science programs including Dental Hygiene, Denturism, Dental Technician, and Hearing Instrument Specialist at George Brown College.

Graduates of the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program are eligible to apply for the Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) degree program with Queen’s University (in-person or online stream). This BHSc program offers pathways into Medical School, Dentistry, Pharmacy, and Veterinary Medicine.

Graduates of the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program with a previous degree in any field may be eligible to apply to Doctor of Medicine programs at St. George’s University.

Selected Bachelor of Science in Nursing programs will consider applications from graduates: Laurentian University, McMaster University, Trent-Fleming School of Nursing, Western-Fanshawe Collaborative Program.  

Please note: Graduates of the Pre-Health Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees program are eligible to apply to Health Science programs, however, admission cannot be guaranteed. All applicants are responsible for meeting the specified admission requirements for each program.
