For Current Employees
If you're already working in a trade and want to formalize your training, speak with your employer about sponsoring you for an apprenticeship program, then follow these steps to register your apprenticeship.
- Visit Skilled Trades Ontario (STO): Register or renew your membership at skilledtradesontario.ca or call 1-855-299-0028
- Secure Employment: Find employment with a certified employer in your chosen trade, or register with your current employer as your sponsor.
- Contract Registration: Work with your employer to register a Contract of Apprenticeship with the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD)
- Wait for Training Offer: Receive your Offer of Training from MLITSD (typically after one year of employment)
- Select George Brown Polytechnic: Choose George Brown as your preferred training institution. Complete and submit your application for admission.
- Complete Registration: Finalize your registration with both STO membership and the Ministry's Offer of Training

For full-time high school students considering a career in the Skilled Trades, the Accelerated Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) provides a funded, direct pathway into apprenticeship programs from your high school.
For Employers
We encourage employers to consider hiring our students and graduates of the various trades programs. Our apprentices and graduates bring up-to-date knowledge and fresh perspectives to your workplace as they complete their certification requirements.
You can also support students in trades in diploma and certificate programs through work placement opportunities, building a pipeline of talent for your organization.

Levels I, II & III, Red Seal trade.
A General Carpenter constructs, renovates and repairs structures made of wood, steel, concrete and other materials in the residential, commercial and industrial construction sectors and in related industries.
Construction & Maintenance Electrician 309A
Levels I, II & III, Red Seal trade.
An Electrician – Construction and Maintenance plans, assembles, connects, installs, repairs, inspects, tests, verifies, and maintains electrical systems in various settings (residential, commercial, institutional, industrial).
Construction Millwright 426A
Levels I, II & III
A Construction Millwright lays out, receives and installs machinery, mechanical equipment and other automated and robotic systems.
Industrial Mechanic Millwright 433A
Levels I, II & III, Red Seal trade.
An Industrial Mechanic Millwright works on industrial machinery, mechanical equipment and components, including mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel, lubrication, cooling and exhaust systems, and pumps, fans, tanks, conveyors, presses, generators and pneumatic and hydraulic controls.
Plumber 306A
Level I, II & III, Red Seal trade.
A Plumber installs, repairs and maintains piping systems, fixtures and other plumbing equipment used for water distribution, drainage and waste disposal.
Refrigeration & Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic 313A
Level I, II & III, Red Seal trade.
A Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic works on refrigeration, cooling and combined heating cooling combination systems, including geo-exchange systems in residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional settings.
Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic 313D

A Residential Air Conditioning Systems Mechanic works on residential air conditioning systems, including geo-exchange systems.
Sheet Metal Worker 308A

A Sheet Metal Worker designs, creates, assembles installs, and repairs sheet metal products.
Baker/Pattisier 423A
Levels I, II & III, Red Seal trade.
A Baker-Patissier prepares and bakes pies, tarts, squares, bread, rolls, cookies, cakes and other items for commercial and retail establishments as well as restaurants.
Cook 415A
Levels I, Red Seal trade.
A Cook prepares a wide range of foods for public consumption in various settings, for small or large groups or individual dishes in restaurants and test kitchens.
Child Development Practitioner 620C
A Child Development Practitioner (CDP) plans and implements age-appropriate service, supports and programs for children that facilitate physical, social, emotional and cognitive growth.

Levels I & II
A Hairstylist performs a range of hairstyling services, including cutting, designing, colouring, permanent waving, relaxing and straightening.
