George Brown Polytechnic (GBP) is excited to announce the launch of its Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Honours) degree program, designed to prepare graduates to become Registered Nurses (RNs) who deliver safe, ethical, and evidence-informed care across Ontario’s diverse communities and health care settings.

Building on more than 50 years of nursing education excellence, this new program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and critical thinking needed to thrive in today’s complex healthcare environment.

“Every day, Ontario nurses deliver compassionate care that improves and saves lives,” said Nolan Quinn, Minister of Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security. “With the launch of their new Bachelor of Science in Nursing Honours program, George Brown Polytechnic is ensuring future nurses gain the hands-on skills and training they need in their careers and keep our communities and loved ones healthy.”

This innovative program offers:

  • Extensive Clinical Experience: Students will work with interprofessional teams and serve diverse populations, including vulnerable youth, individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges, and older adults.
  • Commitment to Health Equity and Innovation:  The curriculum integrates Indigenous health practices, anti-racism education, and digital health technologies, reflecting GBP’s dedication to reconciliation and equity.
  • Leadership and Global Perspective: Graduates will be prepared to address local and global health challenges through a focus on leadership, scholarship, and global health awareness.
  • Regulatory Readiness: The program meets College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) requirements, ensuring students are ready to provide safe, person-centred care upon graduation.

The program has received preliminary program approval in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario. Graduates from this program are eligible to apply for registration as a Registered Nurse in Ontario.
