Former George Brown student among winners of Top 25 Canadian Immigrant awards

A former George Brown College student is among the Top 25 Canadian Immigrants of 2021, annual awards organized by Canadian Immigrant magazine and COSTI Immigrant Services.

Edsel Mutia started his nursing career in his home country of the Philippines and continued to advance his education and career when he came to Canada in 2007, which included studies at George Brown.

He’s currently working on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic as a full-time ICU charge nurse at North York General hospital and part-time with the critical response team at Scarborough General, according to Canadian Immigrant magazine.

Mutia has been recognized before for his outstanding contributions in his field, including the Toronto Star Nightingale Award.
