  • Orientations help students understand the requirements of their program, academic departments, the College and immigration requirements. Students will also get to meet their faculty, departmental/GBC staff and fellow students in the program.

    International Smart Start

    The International Smart Start event is a day of fun activities and useful information to jump start your college experience in Toronto.

    This is a free event with free food, beverages, complimentary GBC t-shirt, and prizes! Additionally, it’s a great opportunity to learn about your upcoming college life and meet new friends! Don't miss out!

    There will also be an optional “Urban Adventure Tour” to learn more about the wonderful city you will now be living in!

    International Orientation

    You are invited to join the orientation for new international students at the beginning of the Fall and Winter semesters. At your international student orientation, you will have the opportunity to learn more about:

    • Ways to get involved at GBC

    Academic Orientation

    Be sure to register for your academic orientation sessions for new students. These events provide an opportunity to meet your teachers and other students in your program, tour your campus, receive your book lists and take part in some fun activities before you start classes.

    Be sure to arrive early as academic orientations for new students take place the week before each semester begins.

    Week of Welcome

    Join the George Brown Student Association as they welcome new and returning students to George Brown College with a campus street festival. Music, food, entertainment, vendors, prizes and more!

    The Week of Welcome is free to attend and events take place at the Waterfront, Casa Loma, and St James campuses during the first week of class.

    Campus Tours

    A general campus tour is a great way for new and prospective students to discover their campuses. Our tour guides will give you an idea of what to expect from student life at George Brown, as well as show you classrooms, labs and common areas at each campus, including the cafeteria, fitness centre and athletics facilities, and student services, among others.
