My issues are mainly academic, how can I get help?
If your concern is mainly an academic issue, please contact your academic department or email us at letstalk@georgebrown.ca.
How can I access mental health support if I’m not in Ontario?
WeConnect is a service available through your Student Health Benefits that provides the following assistance based on your location:
- If you are located within Canada, they offer short-term mental health counselling by video or in person.
- If you are located outside of Canada, they offer mental health coaching, which assists with finding mental health support that you can access within your local area.
WeConnect can be reached 24/7 at 1-855-853-0565.
What if there is an imminent threat of harm to self or others?
If you are looking for urgent support because of an imminent threat of harm to yourself or someone else, you can contact 911 from anywhere in Canada. If you are located outside of Canada, we strongly encourage you to contact emergency services local to your area.
I am on a GBC field placement. How can I get help if I’m in crisis?
If you are travelling overseas for a GBC field placement and require crisis or emergency services, International SOS (ISOS) can connect you with local services through the ISOS app. You can also call the GBC Emergency phone line at 416-415-4000. Please refer to the package provided by the Global Partnerships Office with more information regarding how to access these services and what to do in an emergency.
