The George Brown College Foundation is committed to transparency, accountability, and responsible stewardship. The policies below guide the Foundation’s governance, fundraising activities, donor relations, investment management, and privacy practices.

Policy Details 

Conflict of Interest Policy 

This policy covers conflicts of interest that arise when a director’s private or personal interests compete with their duties and responsibilities as a board member. This could arise from an actual, potential or perceived apparent conflict of interest of a financial nature or otherwise. 

Donor Recognition & Naming Policy

This policy defines the process that governs the recognition of donors, including protocols for determining permanent recognition through naming George Brown activities, programs, awards, spaces or other assets. 

Fundraising Policy

This policy sets out provisions governing all fundraising campaigns, programs, and events carried out in support of George Brown Polytechnic or by third parties in support of charitable purposes aligned with the polytechnic's vision and values. 

Gift Acceptance Policy 

This policy applies to all fundraising activities of the Foundation, including annual giving programs; planned gifts; major gifts and capital needs; special facility-based fundraising initiatives; campaigns; endowments; and any third parties conducting fundraising on behalf of the George Brown Polytechnic (referred to as “College”) and/or the Foundation.

Privacy Policy 

This policy defines how the Foundation collects, uses, protects, and manages personal information in accordance with applicable privacy legislation and charitable sector standards.

Statement of Investment Policies

The Statement of Investment Policies and Guidelines cover how the George Brown College Foundation invests its endowment funds.  

The portfolio of endowment funds is currently invested through Burgundy Asset Management, Mawer Investment Management Ltd., PBY Capital Limited, RBC Phillips, Hager & North Investment Counsel Inc.

George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
