Meet the startGBC #WhyNotMe January 2026 Entrepreneur Spotlight: Sydney Bergevin, Executive Chef, Sydney Bergevin Catering
March celebrates International Women’s Day, and at startGBC, we are so proud of the vast number of women entrepreneurs we engage with annually. Who better to shine the March spotlight on than one of our incredible George Brown women entrepreneurs?
We are pleased to showcase a recent graduate and startup, Sydney Bergevin, who has created Sydney Bergevin Catering, a luxury in-home private chef catering company. In such a short time, Sydney has taken her skills and turned them into an exciting business.
We had the chance to speak with Sydney and learn more about her.
About Sydney
I come from a culinary background of high-volume, fast-paced restaurants. Creativity naturally flourishes in those sorts of environments. My catering business feels like the only natural next progression.

What made you want to become an entrepreneur?
Both of my parents are entrepreneurs, and I've never known anything different. They've shown me the benefit of not just loving what you do but having real passion for it. I can't imagine living my life any other way.
Why did you create your business?
I created my business to fill a need. I want to bring the luxury service of in-home catering to anyone looking to elevate their next birthday, anniversary, or date night.
What successes have you enjoyed so far with building your company?
I have several returning clients I've grown to really enjoy. It’s one thing to have work; I will always be grateful for bookings, but to work for people you truly admire is something so special.
What is one piece of advice you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
I haven't been doing this long enough to give advice, but I'm having fun, so I suppose that's my advice. Have fun.
