George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
If a student drops one or more courses but maintains full-time status, they do not receive a refund for the individual course(s) that they dropped or are exempted from. In addition, if you retake the dropped course in a future semester, even if you did not receive a refund for it, you may be required to pay for it again. Please see our Course Drop Policy for details.
Full-time status is defined as students who are enrolled full-time taking 66 and 2/3% of the required courses for their program/block, or 70% of the program contact hours (defined as instructional or classroom time) in any given semester. You can contact the Registration office regarding your full-time status.
It is always a good idea to meet with your academic department before you drop a course, to make sure that there won’t be any impact on future semesters. You can also inquire about exemptions to see if you can pick up another course in its place before the deadline to add courses.
