George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.

In many cases, students who have earned a grade of B or higher in TWO diploma-level General Education electives can receive exemption from ONE lower-level Liberal Studies elective.
- If you are a George Brown graduate, the Registrar's office will apply the eligible diploma-level courses to your degree requirements.
- If you have completed diploma courses at another institution, you must submit transcripts and course descriptions to the School of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Students can earn a maximum of two Liberal Studies elective credits through a diploma-to-degree transfer.
There are some exceptions, for example:
- Some degree programs do not accept diploma-to-degree transfer of General Education credits.
- Courses that have already received advance recognition in the degree program (possibly as admission requirements) cannot be counted again as a Liberal Studies elective.
More details and contact information are on the General Education and Liberal Studies Electives webpage.
