George Brown College is proud to be the first Ontario college to offer a dental hygiene degree completion program designed specifically for graduates of a community college Dental Hygiene three-year Advanced Diploma or two-year Diploma program.

This program is eligible for a $1000 entrance scholarship.

George Brown College's Honours Bachelor of Science (Dental Hygiene) (S305) is the first fully online one-year degree completion program in dental hygiene offered by an Ontario college. Apply to this program if you are a dental hygienist interested in expanding your career and educational pathway opportunities. To qualify, applicants must be a graduate of an Ontario Dental Hygiene Advanced Diploma (three-year) or an Ontario Dental Hygiene Diploma (two-year) program from an accredited publicly funded program, e.g., George Brown or other community colleges, with a minimum GPA of 3.0.

George Brown College’s Honours Bachelor of Science (Dental Hygiene) is the first Ontario college degree completion program designed specifically for graduates of a community college dental hygiene program. 

Apply to this program if you are a graduate of an Ontario College Advanced Diploma (three-year) or an Ontario College Diploma (two-year) program in Dental Hygiene from an accredited publicly funded program with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and are interested in broadening your career opportunities beyond traditional clinical practice.

While the primary focus of a Dental Hygiene three-year Advanced Diploma and two-year Diploma program is on clinical practice, this fully online degree completion program will help you develop advanced competencies in oral health advocacy, health promotion and critical decision-making. 

About the Bachelor of Science (Dental Hygiene) program

  • one-year (three-semester) program

  • course curriculum delivered fully online with both synchronous (live) and asynchronous (self-paced) learning

  • complex oral health-care needs
  • health promotion
  • oral health-related policy and advocacy
  • research
  • evidence-based decision-making
  • disease processes
  • emerging trends in oral health care

Having developed your skills in these subject areas, you will be prepared to work effectively within a collaborative health-care team that includes working with individual clients, other health-care providers and the broader community on complex health-care issues. 

Capstone project 

This program has been designed to help you build your confidence as your knowledge of complex oral health-care needs develops. You will develop foundational learning in the first semester to support more complex decision-making and critical thinking required in the second and third semesters. The third semester will include a self-directed capstone project where you will select and study an area of personal interest.
