BOLT Foundation renews support for construction and engineering students

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the Building Opportunities for Life Today (BOLT) Charitable Foundation has continued to support George Brown College students.

On July 15, 2020, the BOLT Charitable Foundation presented the college with another generous gift of $30,000 towards student scholarships for the 2020‑21 academic year. Established by Tridel, the BOLT Charitable Foundation has consistently provided support for George Brown students since 2009.

The award is intended to facilitate the BOLT Charitable Foundation’s mission to “assist under-resourced youth to connect to education and careers in construction” and to “inspire a new generation of tradespeople by providing access to education, training and employment in construction.”

“BOLT truly believes in supporting youth and helping them enter the construction sector,” said Leo DelZotto, President of Tridel Group. “We are pleased to do this through a variety of initiatives such as scholarships, job shadowing, mentoring, and events like the Day of Discovery and Speak Outs.”

Joanne Bin, BOLT’s Executive Director, also highlighted the importance of giving back to students in the construction and engineering community.

“BOLT wants to support students’ educational journeys in order to pave the way for the next generation of construction workers and, in so doing, future-proof the sector,” she said.

Gratitude for continued student support

George Brown President Anne Sado expressed the college’s gratitude for the continued support from BOLT.

“Crises, such as the pandemic we now face, often test relationships and convictions,” she said. “The college is pleased to note that in these difficult times BOLT’s thought leadership and support for our students continue to shine through.”
