The Goddie Nursing Scholarship is a funding opportunity for Black nursing students.Inspired by Veta Picart, known as "Goddie," this scholarship honours her legacy and supports nursing students in their educational pursuits. Goddie, an orphaned Jamaican native, overcame indentured servitude and poverty to become a registered nurse. Goddie's resilience led her to England, where she received nursing training, and ultimately, Canada, where she practiced psychiatric, maternity, and general surgery for four decades.The Goddie Nursing Scholarship recognizes the value of education and the opportunities it provides. Annually, this award will be granted to deserving Black students who exemplify Goddie's unwavering dedication to excellence, selflessness, and community empowerment.100% of your donation will go to George Brown Polytechnic students; no processing fees or administration fees will be applied to your gift. You will receive a tax receipt by email for donations made over $20.
