Biography
Dr Valerie Onyia Babatope is an astute scholar with a demonstrated history of working in the higher education industry. She teaches future Human Resource Management (HRM) professionals and designs HR course content, writes curriculum and facilitates online learning in business and HRM courses. Skilled in youth leadership, human resource management, business intelligence, and business management with research interests in mentoring, entrepreneurship, and organisational behaviour, she also serves as a HR consultant for a Canadian company- Fairly AI that focuses on developing tools and solutions to ensure fairness, inclusivity and transparency in artificial intelligence systems used for recruitment and selection purposes. Her work has been funded by NFRF (New Frontiers in Research Fund) and UKRI (United Kingdom Research & Innovation). Her research examining mentorship, burnout and EDI in the field of human resource management has been published in high-ranking journals such as Future Business Journal and Business Process Management Journal.
In addition to her research accomplishments, her professional accomplishments include numerous distinguished teaching awards by her employing institution. She is also a reviewer for Human resource management review (HRMR) and volunteers in the HR division as the coordinator of the division’s Book club. Alongside her research and teaching accomplishments, she works closely with companies in Canada and Nigeria on developing policies that facilitates ethical and inclusive employment practices.
