Biography
Indira Somwaru is an award-winning educator and accomplished HR executive with over 35 years of leadership experience in both corporate and academic settings. Her career has spanned key sectors including healthcare, real estate, and publishing, where she led complex HR initiatives, built inclusive cultures, and implemented strategic workforce programs.
n academia, she has taught at leading institutions including the University of Toronto, York University, Centennial College, Seneca College, Conestoga College, and George Brown Polytechnic. Her teaching covers undergraduate, graduate, and executive education, with a focus on bridging theory and practice.Known for her real-world insights, Indira emphasizes critical thinking, ethical leadership, and applied learning.
Passionate about student development, curriculum innovation, and inclusive learning environments, Indira continues to mentor future HR and business leaders across Canada. Outside of work, she advocates for wellness and fitness, and finds her greatest joy in time spent with her grandchildren.
