George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
Students in degree programs take a combination of lower-level and upper-level electives.
Lower-level electives introduce students to the key concepts in subjects such as psychology, sociology, art history, and environmental science, and upper-level electives explore key issues in these subject areas in greater depth, often from an interdisciplinary perspective.
To fulfill Postsecondary Education Quality Assessment Board's (PEQAB) requirement that students take breadth courses that require more than an introductory level of subject knowledge, students must complete at least three upper-level Liberal Studies electives. Students must also complete Liberal Studies electives from at least two of the three categories:
- LHUM - Arts & Humanity
- LSCI - Science & Technology
- LSSC - Social Science
