George Brown Alumnus, Faculty Member, and Industry Leader Invests in the Next Generation of Cybersecurity Talent
The George Brown College Foundation is proud to announce a new five-year commitment from alumnus, faculty member, and industry partner Milind Bhargava, founder of Mjolnir Security, in support of students pursuing careers in cybersecurity and digital defense.
This multi-year commitment builds on Bhargava’s earlier support of George Brown Polytechnic students and will sustain the Mjolnir Guardian Award and Mjolnir Vanguard Award, recognizing student excellence in cyber defense, innovation, and leadership. More than a financial contribution, the awards reflect a long-standing relationship with George Brown—one rooted in alumni engagement, teaching, industry partnership, and workforce development.
A 2012 graduate of George Brown’s Wireless Networking Program (T411), Bhargava credits George Brown’s applied, hands-on learning model with preparing him for the realities of professional cybersecurity work.
“George Brown gave me practical skills I could use immediately. The labs and simulations mirrored real-world challenges, and that experience stayed with me as my career progressed. My time spent in the college’s Cisco labs gave me the leg up I needed to stand out from my peers as I began my career in Canada.”
After more than 16 years in cybersecurity, Bhargava founded Mjolnir Security, a Canadian firm specializing in intelligence-driven defense, incident response, and digital forensics.
A Partnership Rooted in Learning and Industry
Bhargava’s connection to George Brown Polytechnic extends well beyond his alumni status. Since 2017, Mjolnir Security has partnered with George Brown Polytechni’s School of Computer Technnology to provide students with hands-on exposure to security operations centre (SOC) workflows, malware analysis, and incident response—helping prepare them for the realities of modern cybersecurity work.
As a part-time professor, Bhargava mentors students not only in technical skills, but also in professional judgment—how to think critically, act ethically, and respond effectively under pressure.
“Milind’s commitment reflects the kind of full-circle engagement we strive to build with our alumni. He understands our students because he was one. His investment supports learning, workforce readiness, and opportunity for our current and future students.”
— Albert Danison, Associate Dean, School of Computer Technology
That connection continues beyond the classroom and into meaningful employment pathways. According to Milind Bhargava, seven of the nine employees at Mjolnir Security’s Toronto office are George Brown alumni, including three graduates of the Cyber Security program. He also shared that the firm employs 38 professionals across Canada, many of whom were trained through applied postsecondary education.
Investing in Students and the Future of Cybersecurity
The Mjolnir Guardian Award recognizes excellence in defensive security, threat detection, and incident response, while the Mjolnir Vanguard Award celebrates innovation and leadership in cybersecurity research and practice. Inspired by the symbolism of Mjolnir—the hammer representing strength and protection—the awards reflect the values Bhargava believes are essential to the field.
“These awards are about more than recognition. They’re about helping students feel supported as they enter a demanding field—knowing that industry sees their potential and believes in them.”
— Milind Bhargava
For George Brown, this multi-year support reflects the power of sustained alumni engagement—partnerships grounded in shared values, lived experience, and long-term impact.
“Milind’s story shows what’s possible when alumni remain connected beyond graduation. As a donor, professor, and employer, he strengthens our community in multiple ways. That kind of engagement benefits students today and the institution for years to come.”
— Carmel Drumgoole, Manager, Alumni Engagement
A Model of Full-Circle Giving
As cybersecurity threats continue to grow in scale and complexity, partnerships like this ensure that students have access not only to financial support, but also to industry-informed learning opportunities that reflect current and emerging realities of the field.
The George Brown College Foundation is proud to partner with Milind Bhargava and Mjolnir Security in empowering the next generation of cybersecurity professionals—and grateful for a commitment that reflects not only generosity, but trust in the power of applied education.
