George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
Building a Working Peoples’ City
Join us for Labour Fair 2026, Monday March 23rd – Friday March 27th, 2026
What is the Labour Fair?
The Labour Fair at George Brown Polytechnic is a week like no other. This annual event profiles the labour movement and other social justice movements to students and the rest of the George Brown community and partner post-secondary institutions.
It is:
- An annual week-long event that brings trade union and activists to college classrooms across our 3 campuses.
- An opportunity for students to hear union perspectives on issues and challenges facing the sectors they are training for and strategies for labour organizing.
- Topics in workers’ rights and social justice are presented through online and in-person keynote speakers and interactive discussion panels, podcast recordings and the arts.
The Labour Fair focuses on the importance of unions to the rights and dignity of workers, to the well-being of communities and to narrowing the gap between wealth and poverty in our society. We shed light on struggles against classism, racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, colonialism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and other forms of economic and social injustice that shift power to the rich and their corporations while leaving people and planet behind. And we celebrate in the remarkable ability of people to build a more hopeful future when united in passion, solidarity and power.
