Better Jobs Ontario for Prospective Applicants

Better Jobs Ontario has replaced the Second Career program. The program now offers increased eligibility for the unemployed and underemployed as well as those on social assistance, gig workers, youth and newcomers to Ontario. Please visit for more information. 

The Ministry of Labour, Trades and Skills Development (MLTSD), will grant each student up to a maximum of $28,000 to cover tuition, books, transportation and living expenses for up to one years.  Students are also expected to make a financial contribution towards their training. Please be advised that George Brown College cannot guarantee the Better Jobs Ontario eligibility of programs at the College.  When researching programs, the following MLTSD guidelines provide some general eligibility criteria:

  • The program must be no more than one year in length and should lead to a specified career path
  • One year of academic upgrading permitted (if required)
