Program Overview

George Brown College’s Construction Craft Worker (A106) is a free, 18-week supported education program for individuals who identify mental health and/or addictions challenges as a barrier to education and employment. In a small group, hands-on setting, with experiential work opportunities and job-coaching support, students will develop the skills they need for entry-level work in Toronto's construction industry.

Full Description

George Brown College’s Construction Craft Worker (A106) program is one of two innovative Augmented Education employment-focused programs developed in partnership with the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH).

Designed to support those with a history of mental health and/or addiction challenges, this free, 18-week program addresses common employment barriers that exist and provides training to support employment in Toronto’s construction industry.

Construction Craft Worker Program Overview:

  • full-time delivery
  • includes classroom and construction lab instruction
  • class and construction lab time approximately 30 to 35 hours per week
  • 160 hours of work placement and workshops
  • graduate with an Ontario College Certificate
  • tutoring and support available from program coaches

Career Options

Construction Craft Worker (A106) graduates will be qualified for entry-level construction industry jobs such as:

  • construction labourer
  • carpentry helper
  • masonry helper
  • cement-finishing helper
  • demolition worker

Graduates will also be qualified to work in many other areas in the building trades, including the potential to work in the retail area of the construction sector.
