Student Locker Services


George Brown Polytechnic provides locker rentals to students to offer secure and convenient storage for personal belongings while attending classes and labs.

This document outlines the terms, conditions, and regulations governing the use of student lockers.

By renting a locker through the LockerGM portal, students agree to comply with this Locker Rental Agreement and Regulations.


Locker Registration and Rental Process

Registration Period

Online locker registration opens five (5) business days prior to the start of each academic semester, unless otherwise specified for a particular academic program. Registration closes sixty (60) days after the start of the semester.

How to Rent a Locker

Students must complete locker registration online by following these steps:

  1. Log in to their Stu-View account.
  2. Navigate to the Locker Rental card.
  3. Complete the rental through the LockerGM portal.

Once the rental is completed, students may view their:

  • Locker location
  • Lock combination code
  • Locker receipt

through the LockerGM portal within Stu-View.

Locker Rental Duration

Students may rent a locker for up to three (3) consecutive semesters.

Locker renewals must be completed each semester before the renewal deadline to maintain the same locker assignment.

A gap between semesters is not permitted. If a student does not renew their locker for the immediately following semester, the locker will be considered vacated, and the locker and lock may be reassigned to another student.

Students who miss a renewal period must rent a new locker through the standard rental process, subject to availability.


Locker Rental Fee

Locker rentals are available at a cost of: $25.00 per semester

All payments are processed through the locker rental system at the time of booking.


Locker Assignment

  • Locker assignments are based on program and campus location.
  • Students may select a locker from the available options presented during the online rental process.
  • Lockers are assigned to one student only and may not be shared.
  • Students are responsible for the proper use and condition of the locker during the rental period.

Lock System

  • All lockers are equipped with George Brown-issued combination locks.
  • Students may not install personal locks or alter the locking system.
  • Any unauthorized locks will be removed by Locker Services without notice.
  • The locker combination code is available through:
    • Stu-View
    • Locker Rental card
    • LockerGM portal

Proper Use of Lockers

Lockers are intended solely for the storage of academic materials and personal belongings related to student activities.

Students must not store:

  • Perishable food items
  • Hazardous or flammable materials
  • Illegal substances
  • Weapons
  • Animals or biological materials
  • Items that may cause odours, pests, or environmental concerns

The college reserves the right to remove items that violate these regulations.


Locker Maintenance and Damage

Students must immediately report:

  • Damaged lockers
  • Malfunctioning locks
  • Unauthorized locks
  • Locker access problems

Reports should be sent to: lockers@georgebrown.ca

Locker Services may arrange:

  • Locker repairs
  • Lock replacement
  • Locker reassignment

Locker Changes

Students may request a locker change by emailing: lockers@georgebrown.ca

Requests must include:

  • Student ID
  • Current locker number

Important conditions:

  • Locker change requests are not processed until the tenth (10th) day of the academic term.
  • Once a change is processed, the previous locker becomes immediately available for reassignment.

Locker Renewal

Students may renew their locker for the following semester.

Renewal conditions:

  • Students will receive an email notification with renewal instructions.
  • Renewal must be completed before the final day of the semester.

Failure to renew before the deadline may result in:

  • Locker reassignment to another student
  • Lock removal and replacement
  • Requirement to rent a new locker

Unauthorized Locker Use

If a locker is found with:

  • An unauthorized lock
  • Unregistered use
  • Unauthorized items

Locker Services may:

  • Cut and remove the lock
  • Remove all locker contents

The college is not responsible for storing or protecting these items.


Removal and Storage of Items

If items are removed from a locker:

  • Previously Rented Lockers
    • Items will be stored for 10 business days.
    • Students must provide proof of ownership to retrieve belongings.
    • All email requests to retrieve belongings will be addressed, and students will have access to their items after Week 3 of the new semester.
  • Lockers Without Rental Records
    • Items found in lockers that were not officially rented may be discarded immediately.

After the storage period, items may be:

  • Donated
  • Disposed of

Refund Policy

Refunds may be issued under the following conditions:

  • The refund request is submitted within ten (10) business days from the start of the academic term; and
  • The student has officially withdrawn from their academic program.

Approved refunds will be processed minus a $5 administrative fee.

For lockers rented for multiple semesters, the refund eligibility period begins within the first ten (10) business days of the first semester of the rental period.

If a refund request is approved during this period, the refund may include the full rental amount for all semesters booked, up to a maximum of three (3) consecutive semesters.

Refund requests submitted after the ten (10) business day period will not be eligible for a refund.


Security and Liability

Students are responsible for the security of their belongings.

George Brown Polytechnic is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items stored in lockers.

Students are strongly advised not to store valuables, including:

  • Cash
  • Electronics
  • Identification documents
  • Personal valuables

Any theft or suspicious activity must be reported immediately to Campus Security

College Right of Access

George Brown Polytechnic reserves the right to access, inspect, and open lockers without prior notice under the following circumstances:

  • Security concerns
  • Health or environmental concerns (including pests or odours)
  • Safety emergencies
  • Criminal investigations
  • Violation of college policies

Locker Security Guidelines

Students are encouraged to follow these safety practices:

  • Do not share your locker combination.
  • Regularly test your lock to ensure proper operation.
  • Avoid storing valuables.
  • Report suspicious activity to Campus Security.

Hours: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
Monday to Friday, excluding holidays and school closures.

Please include your GBP student ID number and locker number in all communications. When contacting GBP staff, please ensure that you use your official GBP email address. Requests sent from any other email address will be automatically deleted and will not receive a response.
