Biography

Sarah B. Hood has built a national reputation as a journalist and book author focusing on topics like business, food, culture, urban life and sustainability. She has published hundreds of articles in such outlets as the National Post, The Globe and Mail and Canadian Business. Her most recent book, Jams, Jellies and Marmalades: A Global History (part of Reaktion Books’ esteemed Edible series), has been republished in Japanese and Arabic.

She has taught at George Brown Polytechnic since 1998, initially in the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies (CCET). Now, with the School of Design, she teaches communications and fashion courses. She has designed courses on journalism and business writing specifically for fashion students. Students in her journalism course publish a fashion magazine called Oh, George! She has served as creative director of the year-end fashion show, THREADS, since 2018.
