George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.
Made possible by the generosity of Martin Basiri, this new bursary has been established to support Iranian students at George Brown Polytechnic who are experiencing financial hardship as a result of ongoing political unrest in Iran.
Many students and their families have been deeply affected by economic instability and disrupted access to funds, causing additional barriers to continuing their education. This bursary aims to ease that burden by providing direct financial support to students, so they can remain focused on their studies and future goals.
With thanks to Mr. Basiri, all donations to this bursary will be matched dollar-for-dollar, up to $50,000. This matching gift doubles the impact of every contribution and comes at a critical moment, as the need among affected students continues to grow. Your gift today will provide immediate, tangible support to Iranian students during a time of profound uncertainty—and help ensure they can continue building a brighter future through education.
100% of your donation will go to George Brown students, no processing fees or administration fees will be applied to your gift. You will receive a tax receipt by email for donations made over $20.
For additional information, please contact Gabriella Goutam at the George Brown College Foundation at gabriella.goutam@georgebrown.ca. Thank you for your generous support.
