Accommodations in the educational setting refers to a planned variation to the method of curriculum delivery or assessment of the core content of a course or program to provide a student equal opportunity to meet the essential academic requirements.
Accessible Learning Services (ALS) can provide accommodations for a variety of academic settings, including testing and classroom accommodations. ALS can also provide accommodations for Work-Integrated Learning (WIL), in consultation with the program.
Accommodations are based on the specific nature of your disability, student need and academic program requirements. Accommodations do not modify curriculum, course objectives, or change the core requirements of a program.
ALS can help students with:
-Reduced course loads
-Test and exam accommodations
-Class note-taking
-Recording lectures
-Loan of recording devices and digital pens
-Textbooks in alternative font (large print, Braille, audio)
-Sign language interpreters
-Intervenors for deafblind students
