George Brown Polytechnic is located on the traditional territory of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and other Indigenous peoples who have lived here over time. We are grateful to share this land as treaty people who learn, work and live in the community with each other.

Creator Spotlight: Katłıà
“It’s our time to tell our stories in the way that we want them told.”
- Katłıà, for Cabin Radio
“Everyone has a culture. Everyone comes from somewhere, and just tap into that and understand that’s actually a large part of your identity — and we need to honour that and uplift where we come from.”
- Katłıà, for The Runner Magazine
Katłıà (Catherine) Lafferty (sounds like: CAT-Lee-ah) is a Dene woman from Dënéndeh, Northwest Territories, whose northern roots and matrilineal lineage deeply inform her storytelling. She is the Co-Learning Manager of the RELAW program (Revitalizing Indigenous Law for Land, Air and Water) at West Coast Environmental Law in British Columbia. Katłıà's writing weaves together personal experience, Indigenous knowledge, and activism. She is a mother, grandmother, and daughter of many mothers, including Mother Earth.
Katłıà's titles in our featured online collection, which includes physical copies available at the Learning Commons at Casa Loma, St. James, and Waterfront. We also invite you to explore our Indigenous collection at anytime and discover something new.
