George Brown Polytechnic’s School of Design has tied for first place in the 2025 RGD Student Awards, earning top recognition from the Association of Registered Graphic Designers (RGD).

The School of Design secured the top spot with an impressive five Winners and 14 Honourable Mentions, achieved by 55 students across 122 submissions. The results place George Brown among the highest-scoring design schools recognized in RGD’s annual review of student excellence across Canada.

One of the award recipients, Nankyung Kim, a 2025 Graphic Design graduate who received the UX Design award in fall 2025, credits the school’s balance of strong design fundamentals, diverse electives, and industry-active faculty for shaping her experience. “Their real-world insights made a big difference,” she shared, noting the impact of learning alongside creative and motivated peers.

“This recognition from RGD is a powerful validation of the exceptional work our students produce and the strength of the learning environment we have created at George Brown,” said Dr. Ana Rita Morais, Dean, Faculty of Business, Creative Industries, and Culinary Arts. “It reflects the calibre of instruction our faculty deliver and our commitment to preparing students to excel to the highest professional standards. We are incredibly proud to see our students’ talent and dedication recognized on a national stage.”

The achievement highlights the School of Design’s continued commitment to industry-ready education and student success, and builds on the school's growing reputation for emerging star talent.
